PIUS X ITI Edathua is a pioneer institution named after the Pope St. Pius X. It was started in 5th November 1962. It is completing its 52 years’ history comprising of industrial training and values spread through the Jesuits who have been managed the institution ever since its inceptions. The Kerala Jesuits Society runs this institution with the vision to train befitting youth in 5 trades namely Electrician, Electronic Mechanic, Draughtsman Civil, Fitter, and Welder. The first Principal was Fr. Jose Mekkatt S J who initially began with 3 trades.
It has been rooted in the soil of Kuttanad with multiple services in the various communities. Pius X ITI has acquired its position distinctly in the areas of Industrial Training and the growth of technical education in the locality where it serves. In 1954 the Industrial Department of Central Government offered industrial training in whole of India. As part of this intervention in the country, the Pius X ITI shared the tasks of mentoring and training the young youth of Kerala particularly in Kuttanad with the long sight of Archbishop Mar Mathew Kavukattu and then Jesuits Provincial Fr Joseph Edamaram to alleviate the poverty and the economic imbalances in Kuttanad. Now, the Institution has its own dignified position to stand on the frontline among the other pioneer institutions in Kerala in providing better Industrial training and value education and to mould skilled trade men for the job market.
Today the Pius X ITI marching towards in achieving its motto “Do well what you do, To love and to serve” by the leadership of present Principal Fr. Sunny Mathew S J.
