Description

Atmamitra is a Kerala Jesuit initiative working on Sameeksha campus at Kalady in Ernakulam District of Kerala. The Centre was set up as a memorial of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Sameeksha Indian Spirituality Centre, situated on the same campus. It was inaugurated on the 1st  of January 2012. The centre was founded by Fr. Henry Pattarumadathil, S.J., the then Superior of Sameeksha Jesuit community. Fr. Henry himself served as its first Director and Fr. Dollychan, S.J. served as Assistant Director. They provided a much required base at the local level and established a strong support team with Mrs.Philo Thankachan, Headmistress, St. Sebastian’s High School, Kanjoor as the Chief Animator. They started off with the Teen Seminars for students on Second Saturdays and Centre based programmes. One Seminar was also organized for parents on issues in parenting teenagers.
 
On the 22nd of March 2012, Fr. Toby Joseph, S.J. took over as the Director of the Centre. The reach of the programme increased with a large number of campus based programmes, tele-counseling, centre based summer programmes and centre based counseling and guidance facility. In November 2012, two counselors, Sr. Judit, CPS and Ms. Anu Thomas joined the team to support its counseling services and training initiatives. Mr. Sajimon P.T. and Mr. Tojin Jose started serving it as part time Team members. The team further expanded itself by adding three more team members between July and September 2013. Ms. Bella Jose, Mr. Praise Pious and Ms. Tisha Abraham were the new members.
