Pope Leo XIII's Brief: Mangalore and Malabar separated from Verapoly, and given to the care of the Jesuits

First batch of Jesuits -7 priests and 2 Brothers - arrive in Mangalore; Mgr Nicolas Pagani, Vicar Apostolic and Superior. The Carmelites hand over charge to Mgr Pagani at the Cathedral

New concordat ending double jurisdiction of Padroado and Propaganda in Canara
