Linto Kanichai has reached Afghanistan in the year 2008.

Linto is teaching at the Educational Faculty of Herat University and Teacher Training Institute.

Linto is completing his regency in Afghanistan. He had been using his creative abilities to build confidence of his students all these two years. He likes to be there among God-fearing people even when he misses a lot of friends back home.

Afghanistan has a long history, and has been an ancient focal point of the Silk Road. Afghanistan is believed to be inhabited by humans as early as 50,000 years before Christ.

Jesuit Mission in Afghanistan

Right now, there are nine Jesuits in Afghanistan.
They are branched out to three provinces viz, Kabul, Herat and Bamiyan.

 

There are two Jesuits in Kabul - Fr. Jimmy Dabhi (GUJ) and Fr. Maria Joseph (CCU).

Fr. Maria Joseph is in charge of NIMA (National Institute of Management and Administration). He is involved in the government policy making process regarding Technical Education.

Fr. Jimmy is a research scholar and a visiting professor at Herat and Bamiyan Universities. Right now, he is involoved in a research titled - Gender Discrimination in Universities of Afghanistan.

Herat is close to Iran border. It may take hardly three hours to be in Iran.
In Herat, there are four Jesuits. Fr. James (JAM), Schs. Jude (CCU), Sandesh (GUJ) and Linto.

Fr. James is incharge of Sohadath Township. This a place for the returnees from Iran. We are taking care of their health and the education of children over there.

Sch. Sandesh is in-charge of the school in Sohadath. Sohadath is 30 kms away from our residence in Herat. We can be proud that we are doing a commendable work there.

Sch. Jude teaches at the Herat University and Technical School. The technical school at which he teaches was renovated and funded by JRS. Right now, among 44 technical schools in Afghanistan, Herat Technical school was graded the best during last year.

Linto is teaching at the Herat University and Teacher Training Institute. He teaches English. Students put in genuine effort to learn. They have tremendous motivation and interest in studying English.

In Bamiyan, there are three Jesuits. Fr. Stan (PUNE), Sch. Leo Anand (MDU) and Sch. Antony Anil (KAR).

Fr. Stan is the Mission Superior of Afghan Mission. He takes care of projects and regular visits.

Sch. Leo is teaching in Bamiyan University.

Sch. Antony Anil is involved in teaching English.
