Jeevika organized a simple yet enjoyable new year celebration at Perumbavoor in which nearly 100 migrant workers from Odisha participated. The Administrative Reform Commission of Kerala conducted a public hearing at Ernakulam at which Jeevika could present the issues that migrant workers face. A visit to the villages of Gajapathi district of Odisha was an enriching experience for Shin Kallungal; it was a primary step in building a link between the two migration corridors. A direct experience of the people and their life situation in the villages and the meeting with some friends of those working in Kerala were touching experiences. He had meetings with five village leaders, two parish priests and the bishop of Berhampur. The two-day General Body meeting of JESA at Attappadi was an occasion for Jeevika to listen to the social action involvements of our various centres and to plan together as JESA body for the coming year.
