Province Assembly 2018 was held at Christ Hall on May18 and 19. The Assembly started with a prayer led by Fr Saji Arithiyal Puraidam followed by the lighting of the lamp. Fr M K George, the Provincial Introduced Fr Dionysius Vaz (KAR) who was invited to be the external observer, and spoke on the need to reinvent ourselves in order to remain relevant. Fr Binoy Pichalakkattu, Convenor of the Organizing Team, explained the dynamics and proceedings. He also presented a historical trajectory of the Apostolic Planning Process of the Province since 2013. This was followed by commission–wise presentation of reports. In the afternoon Fr Roy M Thottam gave an input on Vision Based Planningand Team Building for Collaboration and Networking. He highlighted four images of blocks with reference to our way of proceeding, and indicated signs of hope based on the spiritual foundations of the Society. Then the assembly was divided into groups to discuss the challenges and possibilities of team work and collaboration, and to chart out a roadmap to promote the same in the province. Fr Roy Kuzhimannil, this year’s new priest, was honoured in the evening; we thanked the Lord for his gift in a Eucharistic celebration presided over by the new priest. The evening get-together was made colourful by the creative display of talents by the scholastics.
The Second day of the Assembly started with a meditation led by Fr Raju Vattaparmbil. Fr Tomson, one of the organizers, made a review of the first day to help the gathering to recapitulate its highlights. Fr Dion Vaz gave a short input on Spiritual Conversation. Fr Thomas Karimundackal led a session on the Intellectual Dimension of Our Ministries. This was followed by a general discussion on Empowering the Commissions. Fr Provincial then guided the group to reflect on Universal ApostolicvPriorities. The noon Mass was specially arranged in honour of the eight Jubilarians of the Province with Fr Augutine Paruthipallil as the main celebrant. Fr Vincent Pereppadan felicitated the Jubilarians, and it was followed by a Jubilee meal. In the afternoon Fr Dion made his observations on the Assembly and its proceedings highlighting the shadows and lights in the apostolic planning of the Province. Fr Provincial briefly presented the status of the Province, and it was followed by his open interaction with the members of the Assembly. We had a general evaluation of the two days moderated by Fr Jose Jacob. Fr Binoy summarized the sessions of the two days and indicated the future task of the APT. Fr Saji Mathew gave the vote of thanks. The APT hopes that the Commissions of the Province will be empowered to coordinate the execution of the apostolic plan of the Province and to monitor it in dialogue with directors of work and the apostolic communities. The Organizing Committee of the Province Assembly 2018 wants to say Thank You to Fr provincial and to all the members of the Province for their support and cooperation all through this taxing journey.
